Christmas Season in London
It’s known that London is the portrait of Christmas, with its illuminated streets, festive decorations, thin snow and bustling crowds. The city organises numerous events during the Christmas holidays, including Christmas markets, theatre performances, musicals and ballets.
All the city's attractions and monuments are festively decorated, with red, green and gold decorations and lights that make them a real spectacle. One infamous example are the lights in Regent Street, situated right in the centre of the city. In my opinion, the lights of Regent Street are one of the symbols of London Christmas. This long street full of shops becomes even brighter at Christmas. Regent Street extends from Piccadilly Circus to Waterloo Place is the brightest star in all of London. They give brightness to the city with 300.000 LED lights in its darkest hours, illuminating the streets every night, since the year 1954.
Another famous and most exciting event of the year, expected by everyone, is Winter Wonderland. Winter Wonderland is situated at Hyde Park is a Christmas event in London that takes place in November/December and that attracts tens of thousands of people every year and also, inside the park there are many activities to do.
You will find stalls and huts full of delights and garlands, lots of lights and the scent of sugar, but above all you will find the largest ice skating rink in the entire United Kingdom. Winter Wonderland is back with over two hundred rides and attractions and the inevitable Ice Bar, the themed bar inspired by the sparkling nightclub nights of the 1970s New York. In addition to spectacular cocktails, the place will also offer sculptures and tables, chairs and glasses made entirely of ice.
But this year there is also a noble cause that fits right into the Christmas season. The recent and beloved "Tree of Kindness" in Charing Cross, which has been a point of contact for Londoners to provide gifts and basic necessities to those who need them at a time of year when it is particularly needed.
In collaboration with the charity Social Bite, created as a mission to end the homeless phenomenon, the Clermont hotel in Charing Cross has brought back for the fourth consecutive year the "Tree of Kindness" in the centre of London, promoting a wonderful cause. Social Bite invites anyone to donate Christmas gifts to the tree, or simply to provide any basic necessities - from bedding to toiletries, from clothes to toys for children - to give to those who need them most.
