LA PETITE MAISON (LPM): A TRADITIONAL MEDITERRANEAN RESTAURANT.

LPM

London, like all major metropolises, is constantly changing its culinary landscape. After coming across this restaurant by chance on my TikTok For You Page, I decided to give it a try, accompanied by a friend to review the Italian cuisine available in London.

La Petite Maison (LPM) is located in the Mayfair area and is renowned for being elegant, lively, and above all, good. The restaurant originally has a French flair, reflected in its interior with slightly small brasserie-style tables, making it a bit cramped, but it’s worth it. The menu offers Mediterranean dishes, a mix of French and Italian cuisine, that varies from appetisers to pasta and main courses of meat and fish. It’s important to note that reservations should be made well in advance, at least two weeks ahead, to secure a dinner spot, and also that the prices are high enough and not really student-budget friendly.

As an appetiser, we decided to share the burrata with cherry tomatoes, and it was truly delicious. Both my Italian friend and I approved of it, as it is a classic Italian starter. For the main course, I ordered Tagliatelle with ragù and mushrooms, while my friend opted for a second course, choosing the chicken with a side of broccolini. Although I was a bit puzzled by the addition of mushrooms in the ragù, which traditionally aren’t included, I was pleasantly surprised by the vibrant flavor of the pasta and the sauce. The chicken was cooked in a deliciously delicate sauce, very tender, blending beautifully with the slight bitterness of the broccolini.

To finish, we ordered a classic Italian dessert: Tiramisù. It was the perfect ending to our meal—rich, creamy, and with just the right amount of coffee flavour. Overall, our experience at La Petite Maison was delightful. The combination of a warm atmosphere, attentive service, and exceptional food made it a memorable evening. If you're in London and craving Italian cuisine with a mixture of french style, I highly recommend making a reservation here, even though it’s not the traditional italian food that you would find in Italy.
